PREMISE
You might've been sleeping, but with all likelihood, you had been going about your day as normal when suddenly, you'll feel a tugging sensation in your stomach and a dizzying feeling and poof, you find yourself in a new place, ushered into a small conference room with a handful of strangers in uniform.
They apologize for the inconvenience and welcome you to Eglaf, Florida, Earth 846. The packet they give you will explain more about your new home, your new powers, and what happened.
Operation Absideon was a failed government attempt to close the portals that kept opening across the country, letting Supers — heroic and villainous alone — onto Earth 846 where billions of dollars of damage had, by that point, been done by some of the incoming Supers. While the majority of the 328 portals did, in fact, close, there remain three that have locked themselves open for the time being: one in Washington, DC, one in Laguna Beach, California, and the last in Eglaf. The last one appears to be the only active one at the moment and the others seem to be acting largely as transportational outlets.
The military has created a new branch specifically focused on closing the remaining portals and sending the last of the Supers back to their respective Earths. You're welcome to join their efforts or sit tight and wait it out. The choice is yours.
